MEAC, in partnership with Evanston Township High School (ETHS) is currently recruiting students and employers for the iKit Spring Job Shadow Program and the iKit Summer Internship Program. Thirty students have applied for both programs and have expressed interest in the healthcare and manufacturing pathways. Ten employers are participating and the ETHS Foundation is fully underwriting the spring program.
Career Options Day at ETHS took place on March 16 with 25 employers participating. Teachers brought students from selected classes from 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and the goal was to introduce students to local employers to learn about career pathway opportunities.
The after-school program to introduce students to careers in the trades is also in full swing. This is a weekly program that runs for 18 weeks. Representatives from various trades and contractors visit ETHS and talk about their careers, their work and provide simple hands-on experiences. This program is funded by Evanston Rebuilding Warehouse with a grant from Evanston Cradle-to-Career.
