The Supply Chain Innovation Center and Business Incubator at Governors State University, OAI, Inc, and the Chicago Southland Economic Development Corporation (CSEDC) successfully hosted their annual Manufacturing Day virtual sessions with businesses and high schools from across the Chicago Southland. This event demonstrated the region’s collaborative efforts to show high school students that there are substantial career opportunities in manufacturing and logistics in the region.
Four virtual sessions took place over two days to fit students’ schedules. Students could choose to participate in one or more sessions to meet and talk with professionals working in various fields, including human resources and marketing. In addition, Dr. Tricia Kerns from Governors State University hosted each session to provide an introductory overview to help students explore careers in manufacturing in the Chicago Southland. Over 700 students participated in the virtual session events on October 5th and 6th. Matthew Holden from Homewood Flossmoor High School produced these videos featuring careers in manufacturing from Bimba, Panduit, Whiting Corp, and Amazon.
