Nine industry professionals from Kane County Department of Transportation, Matco Tools, Mechanics’ Local 701, Midas Auto Service, Village of North Aurora and Vermeer Midwest shared their time with over 70 West Aurora High School automotive students on Thursday, April 30, 2026.
Industry professionals provided all juniors and seniors with a mock interview experience. Mock interviews allow students to prepare for a simulated job interview under the guidance and instruction of their teachers, practice with a supportive industry professional and build their professional network while in high school.
Experiences that engage industry professionals with high school students as they prepare their career plans are part of the Illinois Postsecondary and Career Expectations framework that every high school has adopted. These experiences are powerful, important and completely rely on businesses and organizations to support the young people of their community.
