Celebrating CTE Month at Homewood-Flossmoor High School

During February, the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Department at Homewood-Flossmoor High School celebrated CTE Month by highlighting the value of career-focused learning. Throughout the month, students and staff showcased programs that offer hands-on experiences, industry certifications, and opportunities for career exploration, preparing students for college and the workforce.

The celebration began with an Instagram takeover featuring CTE programs sharing classroom projects, student experiences, and pathway highlights. In recognition of Black History Month, the second week focused on Black excellence in CTE-related fields, highlighting influential leaders in business, culinary arts, education, technology, and design to help students see connections between their studies and real-world careers

Later in the month, students participated in collaborative activities across programs. Culinary Arts classes prepared food samples, Clothing Construction and Introduction to Education students recognized teachers across campus, and Culinary and Photography classes partnered to capture professional images of culinary creations. The month concluded with recognition of student accomplishments across CTE pathways, celebrating their growth, achievements, and readiness for future careers.
