The student application process for MEAC’s Spring Job Shadow Program has closed, and more than fifty students from Evanston Township High School submitted applications. Thirteen employers are participating, and they represent a full spectrum of career pathways, including healthcare, manufacturing, auto repair, and culinary arts.
In addition, with the start of Northwestern University’s stadium project, a new venture has formed to support awareness of careers in the trades. As construction gets rolling, young people will have many opportunities to enter the trades. The Trade Education Collective has been set up to serve students and others interested in learning about careers in construction, automotive, transportation, manufacturing, and many other sectors. Work is in progress to get the site ready to provide services at the end of May and several MEAC members are engaged in the venture.
