Future Farmers of America Students Growing Leadership and Community Impact in Rich Township

Students in the Rich Township Future Farmers of America (FFA) Chapter are demonstrating leadership, innovation, and service in both plant and animal science pathways. From cultivating crops to engaging their community, these young leaders are putting their agricultural knowledge into action.

This fall, FFA students launched a weekly farmstand, offering fresh produce grown right on campus and sharing the fruits of their labor with local families. Through hands-on experience in food production, marketing, and sustainability, students are learning what it truly means to be stewards of the land while supporting community access to healthy foods.

In addition to their work in plant science, students in animal science have been actively involved in learning about livestock care, nutrition, and the vital role animals play in agricultural systems. Together, these experiences reflect District 227’s commitment to preparing students for careers that feed, clothe, and sustain our world.

The chapter’s hard work and leadership are being recognized statewide. At the end of October, the Rich Township FFA Chapter joined thousands of other members at the 2025 National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana, to share knowledge and cultivate relationships for the future of agriculture. This honor highlights the students’ dedication to agriculture, teamwork, and service learning.

“Our FFA students are planting more than seeds — they’re cultivating leadership, responsibility, and community pride,” shared the program’s advisor, Ms. Jessica Biernacki.
