Incoming Freshmen CTE Day

Vienna High School welcomed eighth-grade students from its feeder schools, Buncombe Grade School, Cypress Grade School, Dongola, New Simpson Hill, and Vienna Grade School, for its 2026 Career and Technical Education (CTE) Day. The event invited incoming freshmen and other students considering enrollment at Vienna High School for the 2026–27 school year to explore the school’s wide range of CTE pathways.

Throughout the morning, students participated in hands-on sessions led by Vienna High School students in multiple career areas, including art, education, social work, healthcare, ceo, podcasting, industrial arts, communications and technology, agricultural science, and welding. Students began the day with a welcome session before rotating through their selected career exploration areas. Each department designed interactive activities to give students a practical look at potential career fields and the courses available at the high school level.

Dean of Instruction Rebecca Guest shared, “Our hope is that students are able to walk away from this experience with a clearer understanding of the career pathways available to them, allowing them to more intentionally select classes and extracurricular activities that align with their interests.”

“Providing students with hands-on experiences before they enter high school allows them to see the connection between coursework and real-world opportunities. CTE Day is an important step in helping students think proactively about their future and understand the wide range of options available to them at Vienna High School,” said Superintendent Dr. Joshua Stafford.

Events like this reflect Vienna’s ongoing Career Connected, Life Ready initiative, which focuses on equipping students with academic preparation, career awareness, and practical skills beyond graduation.
