Manufacturing Apprentice Presents to Arlington Heights Economic Alliance

Manufacturing apprentice Emily Sohn from Hersey High School, staff, and community partners presented at the Arlington Heights Economic Alliance meeting in September. They shared information on D214’s career pathways and apprenticeship programs, and learned about ways to expand the programs into the Arlington Heights manufacturing industry.

Manufacturing is a prioritized focus area for the Northwest Educational Council for Student Success Leadership Community, of which District 214 is a part.

$1.4 Million Investment in Laborers’ High School Program

The U.S. Department of Labor has awarded $1.4 million to southern Illinois to provide career training and supportive services to help workers secure good construction and laborer jobs through a partnership between regional high schools, Shawnee Community College, and local labor unions.
