The Vienna High School Class of 2024 has achieved a remarkable milestone, collectively earning more than $1.8 million in scholarship awards. This impressive accomplishment highlights the dedication, hard work, and academic excellence of the 76 graduates.
The scholarship awards come from a variety of sources, including universities, local organizations, and national programs. These funds will help the students pursue higher education and achieve their career aspirations without the burden of overwhelming student debt.
Guidance counselor Rhiannon Slife, who works with students on scholarships, shared, “With a class size of only 76, this is a huge accomplishment for our students and this small class. They made a great effort and it is amazing that they were able to achieve so many awards.”
School superintendent Joshua Stafford commented, “Scholarships are a team effort. Students who are committed to pursuing the numerous opportunities that are available and start early can really rack up significant awards. I realize that there are times in which students may not have concrete plans by the fall of their senior year, but we encourage them to pursue anything that might interest them, which can put them in a situation where they are able to say ‘no thank’ you as opposed to ‘I wish I would have.’ The award amount for 2024 is encouraging and opens doors for our students. As these students prepare to begin college and pursue their dreams, the collective scholarship awards will significantly ease their financial burden, allowing them to focus on their studies and future careers.”
