Vocational Education Centers Host Life Simulations

Both vocational education centers in the Highland Region Pathways to Success recently hosted life-simulation events for middle school students.

Jo Daviess Carroll CTE Academy teamed up with Citizens State Bank to give students hands-on experience navigating a variety of real-world expenses, such as housing, groceries, and childcare, at its annual CTE Month Life Event.

Soon after, CareerTEC used the new skills of its Careers in Business, Culinary Arts, and Construction Trades students to open its Mall of Life on Highland’s campus. Activities there included not only routine monthly expenses (and their occasional hiccups!) but also opportunities like voting, going on vacation, and managing taxes.

Both events highlight the vital and diverse roles CTE and our vocational education centers play in shaping today’s students into tomorrow’s leaders.
